Mr. Carl Persons serves as a Director for Security Consulting at Red Five. Mr. Persons has 31+ years of experience in security and threat detection/mitigation, specializing in threat and risk assessments, executive protection, and aviation security.
Prior to joining Red Five, Mr. Persons worked with the United States Secret Service. During his 15-year tenure with the USSS, Mr. Persons worked as an Explosives Detection Technician and served on numerous advance teams and details, including the Presidential Protection Detail. Mr. Persons also worked Special Operations with the USSS and had a critical role in the formation of the first Emergency Response Team Unit. He remained on the Emergency Response Team as a Team Leader and is credited with neutralizing hostile threats and an assassination attempt on the President. During this time, Mr. Persons was also an assistant instructor at the Secret Service training facility.
In his capacity as Director of Security at the Airlie Center, Mr. Persons revamped the security infrastructure at the facility and conducted weekly threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments.
Mr. Persons also specializes in aviation security, with over 16 years of experience. He is a trained and licensed Federal Air Marshal with the Transportation Security Administration.
Mr. Persons studied Criminal Justice and Chemical Technology at Middlesex County College in New Jersey. He holds accreditations as a DCJS Instructor, DCJS Personal Protection Specialist, and a Private Investigator License in the state of Maryland. He has completed Level 1 training in Technical Surveillance Countermeasures.
Mr. Persons is the recipient of numerous awards, including the U.S. Attorney Award in 1994, the United States Secret Service Valor Award in 1994, and the United States Secret Service Life Saving Award in 1998 and 2001. He is a member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators and a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.
